Overview
We are looking for a junior Application Support / Analyst to provide functional and technical support for post-implementation activities across Java and SQL-based systems (with exposure to Cobol/Mainframe preferred). You will work closely with client project leads, business users, and developers to troubleshoot issues, support change requests, perform data analysis/testing, and contribute to system and process improvements.
Note: Candidates without Cobol experience are welcome if willing to learn Cobol.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Support
- Understand business needs and translate them into clear technical requirements.
- Analyse and support new enhancements and/or existing functionalities.
- Perform data mining and testing to ensure enhancements/functionality meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with project leads, users, and developers to improve processes and system functionality.
- Assist with Java application troubleshooting and post-implementation support.
- Write and optimise SQL queries for reporting, data analysis, and validation.
- Support client project leads and users on technical issues and contribute to improving system performance.
- Identify, analyse, and resolve technical issues related to Java/Cobol applications and SQL databases post-implementation.
- Support investigation of operational/BAU issues and recommend continuous improvements.
- Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and delivery.
- Contribute to system improvements and simple process automation initiatives.
- Strong communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., client project leads and users).
- Good functional business analysis skills and strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Java and SQL(query writing for reporting/data analysis).
- Willingness to learn Cobol/Mainframe(Cobol experience is an advantage but not mandatory).
- Strong problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn and grow.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 1–2 years of experience working with Java, SQL(Cobol/Mainframe exposure preferred).
- Around 1 year
of experience in:
- Implementation/SDLC and change requests
- Operations / BAU support
- Prior technical support experience is a plus.
