About the Role
We are hiring an Application Support Analyst / Junior Java Developer to support and enhance enterprise applications in a structured BAU and project environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, solid Java and SQL fundamentals, and an interest in building experience across functional support, technical troubleshooting, and continuous system improvements. You will work closely with business users, project leads, and developers to translate business needs into technical requirements, test enhancements, and resolve post-implementation issues.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Support
- Understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Analyse and design solutions for system enhancements and existing functionalities.
- Perform data mining, testing, and validation to ensure enhancements meet business needs.
- Partner with project leads, users, and developers to improve processes and functionality.
- Assist with Java application development and troubleshooting post-implementation.
- Write and optimise SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.
- Support users and project leads on technical issues and help improve system performance.
- Identify and resolve issues related to Java / SQL-based applications after go-live.
- Support troubleshooting for legacy components (including Cobol-based modules where applicable).
- Analyse operational problems and propose improvements and automation opportunities.
- Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure smooth communication.
- Contribute to system improvements and process automation initiatives
Requirements
- 1+ year of experience working with Java and SQL(reporting, troubleshooting, query writing).
- 1+ year of experience in Operations/BAU Support.
- Exposure to implementation (SDLC) and change requests/enhancements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and support Cobol(training/learning support provided).
- Experience with Java backend frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate, JPA).
- Experience with frontend development ( React, TypeScript).
- Experience with Excel VBA / Macros.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
