About the Role
We are looking for a Business Analyst with strong AWS and SQL knowledge to support a modernisation initiative to revamp an on-premise portal and migrate it to AWS. You will work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, and delivery teams to define requirements, translate them into user stories, and ensure smooth delivery through testing, risk management, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1) Requirement Gathering & Backlog Grooming
- Conduct user story grooming sessions with business stakeholders.
- Analyse existing portal functionalities and identify data dependencies.
- Translate requirements into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Ensure user stories are “ready” before each development sprint.
- Partner with solution architects, framework teams, and developers to shape solution design aligned to business needs.
- Clarify requirements and ensure delivered features meet user story intent and acceptance criteria.
- Review and maintain test cases to reflect scope and requirement changes.
- Identify test data requirements (boundary, error, and standard scenarios).
- Ensure testing execution is carried out as planned and support defect triage where needed.
- Identify risks and challenges during grooming and sprint execution.
- Propose mitigation plans and contingency strategies to keep delivery on track.
- Create and maintain user stories and test cases in project tools (e.g., Jira/ADO).
- Provide regular progress updates to the Product Owner/Supervisor.
- Highlight deviations from plan, dependencies, and blockers early.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT projects.
- Hands-on experience with:
- AWS services / cloud concepts (migration experience preferred)
- SQL(data querying, validation, dependency analysis)
- Agile delivery(sprint planning, backlog grooming, iterative development)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across cross-functional teams.
- AWS certifications (e.g., Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate).
- Experience supporting on-prem to cloud (AWS) modernisation or migration projects.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
