About the Role
We’re looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to own day-to-day reliability, security, and cost efficiency of our Azure footprint. You’ll manage core platform services, harden Windows/Linux workloads, automate with IaC and CI/CD, and partner with developers and security to keep our environments healthy and compliant.
What You’ll Do
Cloud Operations (Azure)
- Manage, monitor, and optimise Azure resources (AKS, Key Vault, VMs, Storage, Networking, APIM, Entra ID/Azure AD, monitoring).
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code(Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
- Track performance, spend, and compliance with Azure Monitor, Sentinel, and Cost Management.
- Design and support HA/DR and backup strategies.
- Install, configure, patch, and troubleshoot Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu/CentOS).
- Operate AD, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, IIS, Apache/Nginx, SMTP.
- Perform OS hardening, vulnerability remediation, and performance tuning.
- Automate with PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible.
- Manage Azure networking (VNets, subnets, NSGs, load balancers, VPNs, ExpressRoute, firewalls).
- Configure routing/switching across hybrid and cloud.
- Enforce network security controls, WAF, IDS/IPS; manage IPsec/SSL/TLS, certs, and VPN tunnels.
- Build/maintain CI/CD in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Support containerisation/orchestration (Docker, AKS).
- Automate deployments, patching, and monitoring via IaC and config management.
- Improve reliability with alerting, dashboards, and self-healing patterns.
- Apply Azure security best practices, RBAC, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud.
- Support compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, IM8, CIS benchmarks).
- Participate in incident response, vulnerability management, and audits.
- Operate within ITIL processes (incident/problem/change).
- Participate in an on-call roster.
- Partner with developers and security to drive operational excellence.
- Hands-on experience operating Azure services in production (AKS/VMs/Networking/Key Vault/APIM/Monitoring).
- Solid Windows and Linux admin skills, including hardening and patching.
- Proven IaC experience (Terraform/Bicep/ARM) and scripting (PowerShell/Bash); Ansible exposure.
- Practical networking knowledge (subnets, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute, firewalls, load balancers).
- CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions/Jenkins) and container ops (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Strong grasp of cloud security, RBAC, secrets management, and monitoring/observability.
- Comfortable with ITIL processes and on-call operations; clear documentation and stakeholder communication.
- Certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, CKAD/CKA, RHCSA/RHCE).
- Experience with cost optimisation, FinOps practices, and policy-as-code (Azure Policy).
- Familiarity with Sentinel analytics rules, Defender for Cloud hardening, or WAF tuning.
