About the Role
We are looking for experienced Cost Management professionals to join our client across Junior, Senior and Lead Cost Manager levels.
The successful candidates will support or lead cost management activities across the full project lifecycle, covering cost planning, estimating, change management, cost reporting, risk management, contract administration and project close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or review cost estimates, cost plans, budgets and forecasts using project information, benchmarking data and market intelligence.
- Support or lead value engineering and lifecycle costing exercises to identify cost efficiencies.
- Prepare and manage cost control reports, forecasts, cash flow and financial reporting.
- Manage change control, including change orders, commitments, invoices and cost impact assessments.
- Review change orders, invoices, quotations and supporting documentation for commercial accuracy and contractual alignment.
- Identify, assess and manage commercial and cost risks, including mitigation planning and escalation where required.
- Provide cost and commercial input during pre-contract and post-contract discussions.
- Represent the cost management function in meetings with clients, contractors, consultants, project and design teams.
- Assess and communicate the cost impact of design changes, scope developments, procurement decisions and project risks.
- Conduct measurement, pricing research, benchmarking, development appraisals and commercial analysis.
- Support or lead commercial negotiations, contract administration, final accounts and project close-out.
- Maintain accurate project records, trackers, templates and cost management controls.
- For senior roles, provide commercial recommendations, review junior team members' work and manage key stakeholder relationships.
- For lead-level roles, establish cost management strategy, governance, standards and reporting processes, while leading and developing the wider cost management team.
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Cost Management, Engineering, Data Analytics with a construction/cost focus, or a related discipline.
- Relevant cost management experience appropriate to the level of the role:
- Junior: Minimum 2 years
- Senior: Minimum 5 years
- Lead: Minimum 10 years
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Strong numerical, analytical, commercial and documentation skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and project teams.
- For senior/lead positions, experience in team leadership, commercial governance, risk management and stakeholder management is required.
