Location: Singapore (Kim Chuan & Buona Vista Data Centres)
Employment Type: 12-month renewable contract
Salary: Up to SGD 3,500 per month
Shift: 24/7 coverage, 12-hour shifts (8:30am–8:30pm / 8:30pm–8:30am)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Data Centre Operator to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of NEC’s data centre infrastructure. This role involves monitoring systems, maintaining environmental conditions, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and supporting both internal teams and customers. You will play a key role in maintaining availability, security, and operational excellence in a 24x7 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor data centre systems including servers, network devices, and storage systems.
- Track and record environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, power usage) to ensure optimal operation.
- Ensure compliance with physical security procedures, including access control, CCTV monitoring, and escorting engineers/customers.
- Perform visual checks for system faults and failures, escalating issues per defined procedures.
- Coordinate logistics such as equipment preparation, packing, and transport with DC Facility Management.
- Support onboarding/offboarding of customers and respond to calls/emails from Operations Managers and clients.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, including access logs, environmental data, and incident reports.
- Return to HQ on an ad-hoc basis when requested.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by management.
- Minimum NITEC in IT-related discipline or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering/Information Systems.
- Preferably 3 years’ experience in Data Centre Operations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with good customer service aptitude.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts in a 24x7 rostered environment(shift swaps possible for emergencies).
- Good technical knowledge of data centre monitoring tools.
- Working knowledge of mechanical & electrical operations in data centres.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server OS, network infrastructure, and M365 applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Self-driven, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.
