About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Associate, Finance Shared Services to join our client's Financial and Statutory Reporting team. As part of a shared services environment, you will be responsible for managing the financial reporting and statutory accounts, ensuring timely month-end and year-end financial reporting, grant accounting, reconciliations, and audit support.
This role sits at the final stage of the finance process, producing financial statements and audited accounts. While Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets are managed by the Finance Operations team, you are expected to possess a strong understanding of the full set of accounts to review General Ledger transactions, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues where necessary.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end and year-end financial closing activities for assigned Research Institutes.
- Process and review Grant Utilisation entries to ensure grant income is accurately matched with project expenditure.
- Prepare, review, and maintain monthly accounting schedules and financial reports.
- Review General Ledger transactions and identify discrepancies, ensuring accounting entries are accurate and complete.
- Perform intercompany confirmations and intracompany reconciliations, following up with relevant stakeholders to resolve outstanding items.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to audit queries, and providing supporting documentation.
- Assist with the consolidation of Research Institutes' accounts for the preparation of mid-year and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, internal controls, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Undertake other ad hoc finance-related assignments as required.
- Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
with exposure to full sets of accounts.
- Experience in financial reporting, month-end closing, and General Ledger accounting is highly preferred.
- Experience with SAP
is preferred; SAP S/4HANA
experience will be an added advantage. Candidates with other ERP systems are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Exposure to grant accounting, research institutes, higher education, healthcare, or the public sector will be advantageous but is not mandatory.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Conversational Mandarin is beneficial for day-to-day communication with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Meticulous and accurate when working with financial data.
- An inquisitive mindset with a willingness to ask questions and continuously learn.
- Ability to identify issues proactively rather than simply processing transactions.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A collaborative team player who works well in a shared services environment.
