Overview
The Financial Controller will oversee the hotel’s financial and accounting functions, providing the General Manager and Heads of Departments with accurate, timely insights into business performance. This role is pivotal in driving cost efficiency, revenue growth, and profit maximization while ensuring compliance and safeguarding company assets.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare statutory financial statements and management reports in line with Uniform System of Accounts and International Accounting Standards.
- Review and approve monthly journals, P&L statements, balance sheets, audit schedules, and bank reconciliations.
- Provide meaningful financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Lead the hotel’s annual budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with executive management.
- Manage Capex budgeting, approval processes, and oversight of IT-related Capex and Opex expenditures.
- Oversee payroll administration, including management of casual labor and overtime.
- Drive financial and cost management initiatives, ensuring robust treasury controls.
- Manage taxation planning and reporting, including GST review and statutory filings.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and compliance checklists.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, corporate secretary, and relevant government agencies.
- Maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets, contracts, licenses, insurance policies, and legal/financial documents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting accuracy.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with strong knowledge of corporate taxation and accounting.
- Proficient in Uniform System of Accounts and International Accounting Standards.
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and numerically inclined mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across departments.
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience motivating and guiding finance teams.
- Resilient, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in the hospitality industry is highly advantageous.
