Role Overview
The Senior AML Analyst acts as a critical control function within the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) or Client Onboarding team. The role ensures high-quality, complete, and regulatory-compliant KYC and SoW documentation for onboarding and periodic review of clients. The successful candidate will perform detailed checks, assess plausibility and coherence of SoW narratives, and ensure alignment with internal policies and MAS regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities
KYC & SoW Quality Review (Checker Function)
  • Act as the secondary pair of eyes to review and perform detailed quality checks of KYC files and SoW assessments prepared by Makers.
  • Ensure the plausibility, coherence, completeness, and regulatory sufficiency of all client documentation and risk assessments.
  • Validate risk ratings, red-flag assessments, corroboration evidence, and adherence to internal onboarding/periodic review standards.
KYC Preparation & SoW Assessment (Maker Function)
  • Prepare KYC profiles and conduct initial Source of Wealth corroboration and assessment.
  • Gather supporting documentation, perform due diligence checks, and draft clear and plausible SoW narratives aligned with policy and regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure timely escalation of suspicious activity or anomalies to MLRO / Compliance when needed.
Risk & Compliance Alignment
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (MLRO, Onboarding, Compliance, Front Office) to ensure consistent application of FCC standards.
  • Support audits, QA checks and remediation activities as required.
  • Maintain strong awareness of MAS regulations, industry best practices, and FCC policy updates.
Experience
Candidates with the following backgrounds will be highly considered:
  • AML / Financial Crime Investigations or Advisory experience, preferably within a bank or financial institution.
  • Direct STR (Suspicious Transaction Report) filing experience with MAS or involvement in STR drafting/escalations.
  • Experienced Transaction Monitoring Analysts (5+ years) handling alerts and investigations for corporate banking clients.
  • Prior experience working directly with a bank’s MLRO office or Financial Crime function is a strong advantage.
  • Strong understanding of KYC standards, Source of Wealth corroboration, customer risk assessment, PEP/ECDD requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Skills & Attributes
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Ability to draft clear, coherent, and policy-aligned SoW narratives.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, especially with Compliance and Front Office.
  • Familiarity with MAS 626/AML guidelines and financial crime risk typologies.
