About the role
A large enterprise is scaling a modern AI/ML platform to enable secure, governed model development and deployment across the organisation. This senior leadership role owns the AI/ML platform strategy, technical direction, and delivery, and leads managers and platform engineering teams.
Key responsibilities
- Own the AI/ML platform strategy, roadmap, and scalable reference architectures (e.g., Azure ML-aligned patterns).
- Lead enterprise-wide uplift of MLOps practices (model lifecycle, CI/CD for ML, monitoring, governance-by-design).
- Drive migration of AI/ML workloads from on-prem platforms/models to cloud ML platforms.
- Establish and maintain standards for data governance, security, privacy, and compliance across the AI/ML ecosystem.
- Partner with architecture, security, data, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities to business outcomes.
- Lead vendor/tooling evaluation, integration, and cost effectiveness.
- Build, coach, and lead high-performing platform engineering teams; set delivery standards and ways of working.
- Strong delivery leadership across complex transformation programs (enterprise scale).
- Deep understanding of modern AI/ML platforms (e.g., Azure ML) and scalable architecture patterns.
- Proven on-prem → cloud ML platform migration experience.
- Solid grasp of enterprise data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on familiarity with Azure, Snowflake, Databricks; Docker, Kubernetes; Terraform, Ansible.
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive-level communication.
- People leadership experience managing technical leaders/teams.
