About the Role We are hiring a Senior ServiceNow Developer to support the CIO Office of a leading public sector agency in scientific research. This role focuses on the design, development, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s ServiceNow platform, which supports enterprise-wide IT service management and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Platform Architecture & Governance
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, and App Engine
- Define architecture standards for workflows, integrations, and data models
- Enforce development governance, coding standards, and release management practices
- Configure and optimise ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, Service Catalogue)
- Implement ITOM capabilities including Discovery, Service Mapping, and Event Management
- Develop and enhance discovery patterns, probes, and sensors
- Maintain CMDB aligned with Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
- Ensure data quality, governance, and lifecycle management
- Perform audits, reconciliation, and relationship mapping
- Develop workflows using Flow Designer, App Engine, and scripting (Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes)
- Build custom applications, catalog items, and UI components
- Enhance self-service capabilities and automation
- Design and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs and IntegrationHub
- Support MID Server configurations and enterprise system connectivity
- Implement monitoring, error handling, and retry mechanisms
- Implement role-based access control (ACLs) and data security policies
- Support audit and compliance requirements
- Conduct periodic security reviews
- Monitor platform performance and resolve issues proactively
- Manage SDLC, update sets, deployments, and upgrade readiness
- Develop and maintain automated test cases using ATF
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into solutions
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and platform roadmap
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow development and administration
- Strong experience in:
- ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, and App Engine
- JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting (Glide API)
- Integration development (REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub)
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is required
- Additional certifications such as CIS (ITSM/ITOM/Discovery) or CAD are advantageous
- Experience with Virtual Agent, AI capabilities (e.g. Now Assist), or ATF is a plus
- Familiarity with ITIL practices (ITIL certification preferred)
