About the Role This role sits within the CIO Office of the IT department in a leading public sector agency supporting scientific research. The team oversees IT planning, platform operations, and digital transformation initiatives across the organisation.
You will be responsible for the administration, development, and enhancement of the ServiceNow platform, supporting enterprise service delivery including ITSM, ITOM, and CMDB capabilities.
Key Responsibilities ServiceNow Platform Configuration & Support
- Configure and maintain ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, Service Catalogue)
- Manage forms, workflows, SLAs, notifications, and system configurations
- Troubleshoot platform issues including performance and access controls
- Develop workflows using Flow Designer and scripting (Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes)
- Build catalog items, record producers, and service fulfilment processes
- Enhance automation using low-code/no-code capabilities and GenAI (e.g., Now Assist) where applicable
- Support ITOM modules such as Discovery, Service Mapping, and Event Management
- Maintain CMDB data integrity aligned with CSDM
- Perform data quality checks and manage CI relationships
- Develop and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and MID Server
- Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure secure data exchange
- Create dashboards, reports, and performance metrics using ServiceNow Analytics
- Provide insights for operational and process improvements
- Implement role-based access controls (ACLs) and enforce secure scripting practices
- Support audit and compliance requirements
- Develop and customise Service Portal and UI Builder components
- Enhance user experience and self-service capabilities
- Manage update sets and support deployments across environments
- Participate in UAT and develop ATF test cases
- Gather requirements and collaborate with business and IT stakeholders
- Present solutions and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow development/administration
- Strong experience in ITSM, ITOM, and CMDB modules
- Proficiency in JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting (Glide API, Flow Designer)
- Experience with REST/SOAP integrations and ServiceNow IntegrationHub
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Required
- Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS-ITSM) or Certified Application Developer (CAD) – Preferred
- ITIL v3/v4 Foundation – Preferred
- Experience with Service Portal / UI Builder
- Exposure to Automated Test Framework (ATF)
- Familiarity with Now Assist / Virtual Agent
- Experience in public sector environments
