Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced SuccessFactors Compensation & Variable Pay Lead   (1-Year Contract) to lead the design, configuration, and delivery of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay solutions within a complex, global enterprise environment.

The role will be responsible for driving end-to-end compensation and variable pay solutions across multiple SAP SuccessFactors instances, ensuring alignment with global Total Rewards strategies, local regulatory requirements, and evolving business needs.

You will work closely with HR, Total Rewards, Finance, IT, and regional stakeholders, providing functional leadership and serving as the subject matter expert for compensation and variable pay solutions.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Compensation & Variable Pay Solution Design
  • Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay solutions across multiple instances.
  • Translate global compensation strategies and business requirements into scalable system configurations.
  • Design and implement salary planning, merit cycles, bonus programmes, and incentive structures.
  • Define global compensation templates, plans, workflows, eligibility rules, and guidelines while accommodating regional and legal entity variations.
  • Establish and document region-specific requirements, including proration logic, payout calendars, and plan suspension or redesign scenarios.
  • Assess SAP SuccessFactors capabilities and limitations for executive compensation and Long-Term Incentive (LTI) programmes, including integration and handoff requirements with external LTI/share vendors.


2. Multi-Instance Strategy & Harmonisation
  • Drive the harmonisation of compensation solutions across multiple SAP SuccessFactors instances.
  • Identify opportunities to standardise compensation plans, guidelines, eligibility rules, and processes across business clusters.
  • Establish governance standards covering configuration management, testing, deployment, and release cycles.
  • Promote consistency while ensuring solutions remain fit for regional and legal entity requirements.


3. Variable Pay & Incentive Programme Delivery
  • Design and deliver variable pay programmes, including annual bonuses, sales incentives, spot awards, and performance-linked payouts.
  • Configure eligibility criteria, proration rules, funding models, and payout calculations.
  • Ensure alignment between variable pay programmes and business performance frameworks.
  • Configure integration with Performance & Goals Management (PMGM) to consume calibration outputs within variable pay worksheets.
  • Support the end-to-end delivery of compensation cycles from planning and approval through to payout.

4. Integration & Data Management
  • Define integration requirements between Compensation/Variable Pay and:
    • Employee Central, including job, organisational, and compensation data
    • Performance Management, including ratings and calibration outputs
    • Payroll and Finance systems
  • Ensure compensation data is accurate, consistent, traceable, and auditable across systems.
  • Support compensation-related data migration and conversion activities.
  • Partner with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve integration and data issues.

5. Compliance, Governance & Reporting
  • Ensure compensation solutions comply with applicable local labour regulations, pay equity requirements, and internal policies.
  • Support the implementation of processes that promote pay equity and data transparency.
  • Design and deliver compensation analytics and reporting, including SAP SuccessFactors Story Reports, executive dashboards, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, controls, and governance to support audit readiness.

6. Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership
  • Partner with HR, Total Rewards, Finance, IT, and regional business stakeholders to understand requirements and drive successful delivery.
  • Lead workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, solution walkthroughs, and design discussions.
  • Lead and mentor functional consultants and analysts across relevant workstreams.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay-related decisions.
  • Manage competing priorities across multiple business clusters and geographies.


7. Business Value & Continuous Improvement
  • Align solution design and delivery with key business outcomes, including:
    • Improved accuracy and efficiency of compensation cycles
    • Reduced manual processing and administrative effort
    • Enhanced data quality for pay equity and analytics
    • Improved employee and manager experience during compensation events
  • Establish appropriate KPIs and value-tracking mechanisms.
  • Identify opportunities to automate compensation workflows, approvals, and reporting.


Key Requirements:
Experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in HR technology, with deep expertise in SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay.
  • Proven experience working as a Compensation Lead, Solution Lead, or Senior Consultant on large-scale global HR transformation programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing:
    • Multi-instance SAP SuccessFactors Compensation environments
    • Global organisations with multiple legal entities, currencies, and pay structures
    • End-to-end compensation cycles, including planning, approval, and payout


Functional & Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and Variable Pay
    • Compensation plan design, budgeting, guidelines, and eligibility rules
    • Pay equity, market benchmarking, and Total Rewards frameworks

  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Employee Central and Performance Management integrations
    • Payroll integration principles
    • Compensation data migration and conversion
    • Compensation reporting and analytics, including Story Reports and Ad Hoc Reports

Transformation & Innovation
  • Strong understanding of emerging compensation trends, including pay transparency and pay equity.
  • Experience or strong awareness of AI/GenAI applications in compensation analytics and decision support.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to automate compensation workflows and approval processes.

Leadership & Consulting Skills
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to translate complex compensation policies and business rules into practical system configurations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills, with the ability to influence senior HR and Total Rewards stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities across multiple regions and geographies.

Required Qualifications
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation and/or Variable Pay certification is required.
  • Working knowledge of Performance & Goals Management (PMGM) and payroll integration principles.
  • Experience with global pay structures, multi-currency compensation, and cross-border compliance.
  • Exposure to Total Rewards strategy, executive compensation, or incentive plan design.
  • Experience working within highly regulated or complex global organisations is advantageous.
