Location: Central Singapore
Contract Duration: 1 Year (renewable subject to performance and business needs)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (occasional after-hours work for patching/maintenance)
About the Role
We are seeking a Systems Engineer (Unix/Linux) to join our Managed Services team. This role is critical in supporting enterprise-level IT infrastructure in a 24x7 environment. You will be responsible for Unix/Linux administration, troubleshooting, and ensuring system stability and compliance with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for IT infrastructure on Unix/Linux platforms (Solaris, RedHat, AIX, SUSE).
- Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of server and application issues.
- Deploy Unix/Linux packages, patches, and bug fixes across Test/PreProd/Production environments.
- Manage day-to-day administration tasks including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Adhere to change management processes and provide status updates to stakeholders.
- Deliver 1st and 2nd level operational support, escalating unresolved issues to vendors when required.
- Participate in audits and respond to audit findings.
- Implement service continuity measures such as backup/restore and disaster recovery plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of processes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
- Support desktop-related projects, migrations, and upgrades when required.
- Ensure compliance with IT standards and security protocols.
- Diploma or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Unix/Linux/Solaris/RedHat/AIX/SUSE administration in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of RedHat Clustering and Oracle Solaris Clustering.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Korn Shell, Perl, Python(Perl, Ruby, AWK also advantageous).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds.
- Knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy) is an advantage.
- RHCSA/RHCE certifications preferred.
- Ability to work in a 24x7 environment, including occasional after-hours patching.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
