Unix Engineer

Contract | Onsite | Monday to Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Singapore

Salary: Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications, relevant experience and technical capabilities.
  • Standby and after-hours support may be required for scheduled maintenance and patching activities
  • Occasional travel to other Singapore office locations may be required as part of the role
  • Other duties may be assigned based on business and operational requirements
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – Unix/Linux to support the administration and operations of enterprise IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for Unix/Linux system administration, troubleshooting, patching, incident management and ensuring the stability and availability of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support Unix/Linux environments in an enterprise environment.
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 operational support for Red Hat, Solaris, AIX, SUSE and Ubuntu platforms.
  • Troubleshoot server and application issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Deploy Unix/Linux packages, patches and bug fixes across Test, Pre-Production and Production environments.
  • Manage system changes in accordance with established change management procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, security alerts and infrastructure issues, providing timely updates and resolutions.
  • Support third-party applications and liaise with vendors where required.
  • Participate in audit activities and address audit findings.
  • Support backup, restore and disaster recovery activities to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor service levels and implement improvement actions where required.
  • Maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and patching activities outside normal working hours when required.
  • Provide support at other Singapore office locations when required.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Unix/Linux system administration within an enterprise environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux.
  • Knowledge of Solaris, AIX, SUSE and/or Ubuntu.
  • Experience with Red Hat Clustering and/or Oracle Solaris Clustering.
  • Scripting experience with Bash, Korn Shell, Perl, Python, Ruby or AWK.
  • Knowledge of SolarWinds or similar monitoring tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in enterprise production environments with structured incident and change management processes.
