Deputy Director/ Product Manager

  • 12 months project role aimed to transform and reinvent one of Asia's most recognised brands
  • Competitive compensation package

Our Client

  • A Fortune Global 500 company

The Opportunity

Our client is revamping their Learning & Development program at a regional level, impacting more than 12 countries. They're making fundamental shifts from training their employees to empowering them; from death-by-PowerPoint trainings to experiential, activity-based ones; and from simply focusing on knowledge and skills to intentionally shaping desired behaviours.

We're looking for someone to lead a group of smart, talented creatives, designers and changemakers who want to do great work with awesome people. In exchange for the uncertainty, our client pledges to make for a meaningful experience and offer an attractive package.

This job is as much about doing as it is about leading. We need someone who's unafraid to roll up their sleeves and do the nitty gritty work. We need a fast and independent learner and thinker.

Here's a sample of what our client would ask of you -

+ Develop our curriculum. This is our client's point of view on learning, including pedagogical and epistemological principles. It looks at knowledge, skills, and behaviour needed to drive performance across agency roles. Its architecture makes scaling across the 12 countries more doable.

+ Build and launch learning products. Our client is building an entirely new curriculum for their learners, with learning solutions that comprise digital, instructor-led, and work-based experiences. These solutions must be holistic, immersive, and designed to drive desired behaviors, outcomes, and ROI.

+ Build and rally the team. Our client aspires for a Skunkworks-like team. They are passionate about hiring top calibre talents and cultivating a purpose-led, performance-based culture.

+ Shape and oversee IT projects. Our client has selected Litmos as their LMS solution. It is being deployed in 12 countries and integrated with their IT ecosystems. They may have to build other business applications that integrate with Litmos APIs to meet the unique needs of the country's business.

+ Work with and manage vendors. While the team you will be joining will design and develop content in-house, it will also seek to leverage crowdsourcing platforms, remote teams, and local vendors to achieve additional capacity and capability.

+ Do the odd job here and there. This will be a scrappy team, and even the big bosses will have to roll up their sleeves to plan conferences, onboard vendors, track down invoices, get IT permissions, etc. This will be particularly true as our client rolls out their reimagined learning journeys across 12 countries.

Your Background

Our client would love to find an ambitious, energetic and data-driven person to join the team for this role. They are considering candidates from all backgrounds with a mix of these talents:

+ Designer. You're a creative. You have good taste. You have no qualms sketching or doodling, and you enjoy telling an engaging and convincing story.

+ Synthesizer. You can tame complexity. You have a love-hate relationship with ambiguity. You can turn disparate data into themes, patterns, and insights.

+ Writer. You can write. Full stop. Okay, perhaps we should say more: articulating thoughts and concepts in written form with impeccable style, in a concise manner, is second nature to you.

+ Futurist. You know your way around technology. You can readily conceptualize applications for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and augmented/virtual reality to reinvent learning, and you have the practical experience to lead such concepts from idea to developed (software) product.

+ Conductor / Servant Leader. You can get an orchestra to play, even if it doesn't want to. You can manage projects and marshal the functions of bureaucracy and its cast of characters to deliver results.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You are intrigued by the prospect of reimagining corporate learning, and ideally have a background in education - either in teaching or working at an education technology firm.
  • You have a keen business sense, ideally having a management education (MBA), several years' experience in managing a team, and experience in large organizations and startups alike.
  • You have a keen product sense, ideally having worked as a product manager, designer or developer in the software technology space, and with experience in using analytics or data.
  • You have experience working and managing teams remotely and internationally.

Look, we're realistic. Unicorns are hard to come by and our client is in the throes of transofrming their business. Please apply even if you've not achieved mastery across the board as long as you're intrigued by the prospect of reimagining corporate learning.

There's no minimum length of experience required, as we'll assess your candidacy more on what you've done and have the potential to do, and less on your years of experience.

Finally, you must be a bit quirky and have a sense of humour!
