Financial Accountant (Pension and Retirement Benefits Accounting and Reporting)

The Opportunity
The Pension and Retirement Benefits Accounting and Reporting team in Singapore is responsible for all operational aspects around accounting, control and reporting of pension and other post-retirement benefits globally across various legal entities with a Defined Benefit pension plan within the Bank. The successful candidate will assist the team on the day to day operations of the month-end and quarter-end / year-end accounting and reporting process.

The core responsibilities would include, but not limited to:

• Preparation of the monthly pension instructions to legal entities and posting of journal entries in various legal entities and currencies under US GAAP, IFRS and CH GAAP
• Monthly reconciliation of the ledger against the pension instructions
• Monthly pension forecast and variance analysis
• Monthly and quarterly reporting including the annual statutory disclosures
• Year-end audit
• Addressing ad-hoc queries and requests from legal entity controllers, divisional finance, tax, consolidation team, external reporting and senior management

Your Background

• Accounting / Finance Graduate (professional accounting degree is a plus)
• Has at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in a high pressure, deadline focused commercial environment; prior experience in a similar role would be an advantage
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong technical background in accounting and management reporting as well as knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS pension accounting
• Has a high degree of responsibility and accountability
• Able to learn and understand relatively quickly
• Has a logical mind set with a high level of attention to detail
• Able to work independently and within a team environment
