Qualifications
- 5- 8 years of experience within data center environment
- An understanding of datacenter management and layout (power, cooling, cabling)
- An understanding of networking and systems concepts (circuits, IP routing, consoles)
- Working knowledge of Linux (Red Hat preferred)
- Basic knowledge of Cisco (a plus)
- Experience wiring and making patch cables
- Experience working with fiber optic cables, including the inspecting, cleaning, and testing of these cables
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- A willingness and ability to travel internationally
- A motivation to find the best solutions to problems of all sizes, whether they require visiting data centers or crawling under desks
Responsibilities
- Racking and configuring Linux, Cisco, and Windows servers in our collocations and data centers
- Performing server and network troubleshooting
- Working autonomously to resolve hardware, software, and service issues
- Maintaining documentation of all technology
- Keeping data centers and shared spaces clean and organized
- Coordinating with Systems Team to manage shipments, equipment orders, and connections at our global data center locations. This includes frequent communication with telecommunications providers and equipment vendors regarding order statuses, returns, and support
- Repairing and upgrading of hardware, including servers, network equipment and general data center equipment
- Monitoring and reporting on technical project progress and tracking project deliverables
