Database Administrator

  • Multinational information technology company
  • 12 months contract, renewable
  • Work location: Depot Close

The Opportunity

  • Participate as a member of the business IT team supporting product development lab
  • Lead support activities in design and setup of robust, reliable and secure database servers for engineers in the lab
  • Database performance tuning and status monitoring, security, maintenance, backup and troubleshooting
  • Business continuity and recovery plan
  • Establish understanding with internal and outsourced test partners on database design and development
  • Work with software developer to create efficient and optimized queries and stored procedures
  • Creation of reports
  • Integration with different data sources
  • Design, prepare and execute User Acceptance Tests

Your Background

  • Min a Bachelor / Postgraduate degree in IT, Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with minimum 2 years of database administration experience
  • Specialization in a major database technology (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, noSQL) and deep knowledge of major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) a must
  • Experience with performance tuning, optimization and database security using native tools
  • Strong understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for database servers
  • Familiar with database design, data modeling and automation of ETL on databases. Some programming and scripting experience (Python, Visual Basic, C++, Ruby on Rails) on interfacing with SQL databases preferably with Microsoft SQL and PostgreSQL
  • Good team player; self-starter; pro-active
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think out-of-the-box to apply technology to solve business IT problems
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

Desired experience:

  • Windows Enterprise Server 2016/2019 administration including Active Directory
  • RHEL, Ubuntu
  • Experience with HPE DL Class servers, networking infrastructure, DNS/DHCP, file servers, RDP, Ethernet switches , VLAN
  • Experience with Storage, SAN infrastructure, FibreChannel and iSCSI SAN
  • Virtualization experience - ESX, Hyper-V, Virtual Connect, VSphere
  • IT security knowledge a plus
  • Experience with R&D environments
